Welcome to Samana! To the northeast of the Dominican Republic is one of the most beautiful provinces in the entire country.
Your trip to Punta Cana should always include a visit to the incredible city of Santa Barbara de Samaná. The town of Samaná is located in the north of the Dominican Republic, in the bay of Samaná, and stands out for the turquoise blue and crystalline water of its beaches next to palm trees and jungle, which almost invade the beach to the shore, being the perfect place for a day of adventure.
Samaná is one of the 32 provinces that make up the Dominican Republic, and one of the ones that most impresses travelers for its landscapes. Being a peninsula, it is surrounded by the Caribbean Sea, limiting to the west with the provinces of Monte Plata, María Trinidad Sánchez and Duarte.
Its wild nature, its beaches and a very authentic culture have made it a place with a great tourist infrastructure, so the offer for the traveler is very wide depending on what they want. The main tourist towns in the area are Samaná, Las Terrenas and Las Galeras.
245 kilometers from the capital, Santo Domingo, Samaná is a region rich in marble, its main industry apart from tourism. This city was an old fishing village that grew by leaps and bounds with the advent of tourism.
It has a large port for cruise ships, as well as an international airport opened in 2007.
